Who we are
Effective date: October 16, 2026
This website, jimcarlough.com, is run by Jim Carlough, a leadership coach, keynote speaker, and author based in McKinney, Texas. When this policy says "we," "us," or "our," it means Jim and the small team that helps him run this site.
Your trust matters more to me than any list or lead. This policy explains, in plain language, what information we collect when you visit, how we use it, and the choices you have. It covers this website and the emails we send from it. It does not cover other websites we link to.
Information we collect
We only collect what we need to respond to you and serve you well.
Information you give us
Contact and booking forms: your first and last name, email address, subject, and message. If you're booking a keynote, you may also share your organization, event date and location, audience size, topic preferences, and budget range.
Free resources and programs: when you sign up for a free download (like the Leadership Confidence Kit or a mini eBook), a program, or a consultation, we collect your name, email address, and sometimes your phone number.
Coaching clients: if you work with Jim directly, you may share information about your role, goals, and leadership challenges. We treat what you share in coaching as confidential.
Emails and messages: anything you choose to send us directly.
Information collected automatically
When you visit the site, our website platform and analytics tools may automatically record basic technical details, such as your IP address, browser and device type, the pages you visit, how long you stay, and the site that referred you. This helps us understand what's useful and keep the site working.
We don't knowingly collect sensitive information like health records, financial account numbers, or government ID numbers through this site. Please don't send them.
How we use your information
We use your information to:
Reply to your questions and booking requests
Schedule calls, keynotes, workshops, and coaching sessions
Deliver the free resources, programs, and materials you asked for
Send leadership content and updates you signed up for
Process payments and keep records of services you've purchased
Understand how people use the site so we can improve it
Protect the site from spam, fraud, and misuse
Meet our legal and tax obligations
We don't use your information for anything unrelated to these purposes without asking you first.
Emails and text messages
Email. If you sign up for a resource or our updates, we'll send you leadership content, event news, and occasional information about programs. Every marketing email includes an unsubscribe link. Click it and you're off the list. We may still send you messages about something you've booked or bought.
Text messages. If you give us your mobile number and agree to receive texts, we may send appointment reminders, program updates, and occasional offers. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP at any time to opt out, or HELP for help. Agreeing to receive texts is never a condition of buying anything.
We do not sell, rent, or share your mobile number or text-messaging opt-in consent with third parties or affiliates for their marketing purposes. Your mobile information is used only to communicate with you about our services.
Cookies and analytics
Like most websites, we use cookies and similar tools. Cookies are small files your browser stores so a site can remember you and work properly.
We use them to keep forms and pages working, remember your preferences, and see which pages and articles people find helpful. We may use analytics services such as Google Analytics, and our website platform may record basic visit data.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. The site will still work, though some forms may not. To opt out of Google Analytics across sites, you can use Google's opt-out browser add-on.
Who we share it with
We do not sell your personal information. Period.
We share information only with the trusted services that help us run this business, and only what they need to do their job:
Website, CRM, and email/text platform: our site, forms, contact records, email, and text messages run on GoHighLevel (LeadConnector).
Scheduling and video tools: to book and hold calls and sessions.
Payment processors: if you buy a program or service, payments are handled by a secure processor such as Stripe or PayPal. We never see or store your full card number.
Analytics providers: to understand site traffic.
People who help us: assistants or contractors who support the site and business, under an obligation to keep your information confidential.
We may also share information if the law requires it, to protect our rights or someone's safety, or if the business is ever sold or reorganized. In that case, this policy would continue to protect your information.
Links to other sites
This site links to places like Amazon (where you can buy the book), LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, podcasts, and media features. Those sites have their own privacy policies, and we're not responsible for how they handle your information. If you buy The Six Pillars of Effective Leadership on Amazon, that purchase is between you and Amazon.
How long we keep it and how we protect it
We keep your information only as long as we need it for the reasons above. That usually means as long as you're on our list or working with us, plus any time required for tax, legal, or business records. When we no longer need it, we delete it or make it anonymous.
We use reasonable safeguards to protect your information, including secure, encrypted connections (HTTPS) and reputable service providers with their own security programs. No website or email is 100% secure, but we take protecting your information seriously.
Your choices and rights
It's your information. You can ask us to:
Tell you what personal information we have about you
Correct anything that's wrong
Delete your information
Stop sending you marketing emails or texts
Give you a copy of your information
Depending on where you live, including Texas, California, and other U.S. states, or the EU and UK, you may have additional rights under local privacy laws. We'll honor any request those laws give you, and we won't treat you differently for making one.
To make a request, email [email protected]. We may need to confirm your identity first, and we'll respond within the time the law requires, typically 30 to 45 days.
Children's privacy
This site is meant for adults. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has sent us information, contact us and we'll delete it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the site or the law changes. When we do, we'll change the effective date at the top. If the change is significant, we'll make it clear on the site or let you know by email.
